Modi government had decided to do away with the decades old Nehruvian five year planning system and is planning to replace it with 15 year long term development plan. Niti Aayog is trusted with the duty of preparing the 15-year vision document and a strategy for its implementation.
Niti Aayog will consultations with states and experts from next month and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly instructed the Niti Aayog to start the consultation with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu. In the first batch of consultation, no other Chief Minister is invited.
Former Finance Commission Chairman Vijay Kelkar, former RBI Governors Bimal Jalan and Y V Reddy are among others invited for this first batch consultation.
