Nagarjuna university suspends 4 students for supporting amaravatiAcharya Nagarjuna University had decided to revoke the suspension of four students after a huge uproar from various sections. Even though the university is taken back by the criticism, the revoking letter went on to say that the students have resolved not to participate in anti-Government activities.

The students were suspended for participating in the Amaravati farmers’ protests. Four students from Acharya Nagarjuna University hostel in Guntur have been suspended for allegedly chanting Jai Amaravati slogans. Chief Warden Dr. Ramachandran has issued orders to suspend students from the dormitory.

Ashirvadam, Naveen, Raju, and Edukondalu who are studying in journalism and English are given notices. The students union and other association groups have staged a dharna at a campus in demand to lift the suspension of the students. The University had to backtrack after the criticism.

Interestingly, two students who were pursuing journalism were also punished. That brings us to the question if it is not the role of a journalist to question the wrong decisions of the Government, experts say.
