Telangana Rashtra Samiti has released the list of its six candidates for the MLC Elections. While five names are on expected lines, Rajya Sabha MP Banda Prakash came as a surprise for the sixth position. However, it appears like this is an arrangement for KCR’s daughter Kavitha.
Banda Prakash still has three years to complete his term. KCR is planning to send Kavitha in his place. Meanwhile, there are rumors that Banda Prakash did not agree easily to take the offer and KCR promised to induct him into the cabinet. But then, the KCR’s daughter is not keen on a three-year term.
If she has her way, she may be fielded for a full term when two more Rajya Sabha seats will fall vacant in April. The tenures of Dharmapuri Srinivas and Capt V Lakshmikantha Rao are nearing completion and the election process to these two seats will begin in February itself.
Kavitha who got elected as Nizamabad MP in the 2014 elections lost from the same seat in 2019. She was sent to council later when Bhupathi Reddy, MLC of Nizamabad Local Bodies, was disqualified after joining Congress. However, her term ends on January 4 next year.
