Gaddar Will Only Lose His Credibility with Such TalkWith the onset of Monsoons, HMDA is finding it tough to maintain the National Flag at Sanjeevaiah Park which is among the largest flags in the country. The flag unfurled on the State Formation day in 2016 is throwing maintenance challenges to HMDA since then.

The strong and gusty winds during the rainy season are damaging the flag. HMDA had replaced 18 flags in the first year of its erection and whopping 40 lakh was spent to buy new flags and maintain them, and on power bills. The longest period the flag has lasted is 28 days and the shortest, two days.

The flags are made by a Khammam-based couple, who are into flag research of various countries. The polyester cloth is bought in the Surat textile market and each flag costs 1.15 lakh. HMDA always procures four flags and keep them as stand-by.
