Mohd Arshad Mahamood who is languishing at the Central Prison, Warangal, for over seven-and-a-half years is finally going home. Arshad was arrested in April 2009 for taking photographs of defence installations and was sentenced to 14 years in jail. Finally, he was granted remission last year.
He was to be released on 16th August 2016 but then the government directed prison authorities to keep him in the jail till arrangements were made and formalities completed to send him back to Pakistan. Recently, Union Home Ministery wrote a letter seeking the details of Pakistani Prisoners in the jail.
Warangal Central Prison authorities will furnish all the details to the Home Ministry and that will ensure the release of the prisoner. There are several other Pakistani Prisoners serving various sentences in various jails of Telangana.
