Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is planning a new secretariat for a long time but that has not happened until now due to land issues. The state government is keen on having Bison Polo grounds and part of Gymkhana grounds to build the new secretariat.
After sitting on the proposal for a long time, Defence minister Arun Jaitley is understood to have okayed giving up the Bison Polo grounds and part of Gymkhana grounds to the Telangana government in lieu of land elsewhere for the army
The ministry had forwarded the recommendation to the cabinet committee on security (CCS). A world-class Secretariat, Assembly complex, minister’s chambers, a convention center and a march past track to organize statutory celebrations like the Independence and Republic day will come up there.
