L&T to Go for Arbitration Against Telangana GovernmentHyderabad Metro Rail Project should have been complete by September this year but then nearly a quarter of the work is yet to be completed. The Concessionaire, L&T is looking at an extension of about two years. Telangana government is keen to extend the project timeline but then it is only as long as it does not result in the financial burden on them or prolonging of the concession period (35 years) given to the developer to run the service.

The Concessionaire has been asking for the extension of project schedule by 18 months for the past one year. L&T alleged that the delay is due to the government failing to give the Right of Way as per the original schedule.

L&T has been asking for extension of project schedule by 18 months for the past one year. But then the Telangana government is not moving the things and has only appointed an independent engineer to look into these issues. The project developer is going to opt for arbitration but such move will be defaming for Telangana government.
