metro rail budget and L&TWhile the controversies and confusions continue to linger around the Hyderabad Metrao Rail Project, the concessionaire has made good money by selling 50% commercial spaces at the stations. The fact that the inauguration is still three months away, the sell out can be considered as a good achievement. Also the Metro Rail projects in Delhi and Mumbai in the past had to wait until the stations were open for public to sell the commercial spaces.

The first stage of the elevated Metro Rail between Nagole and Mettuguda will come in to operation from March 21, 2015 and work on the lifts, escalators and staircases is going on at brisk pace. L&T also managed to licence minimum of nine shops in all the 60 stations in the three corridors where the works were still in progress.

The project will become viable based on 50 per cent of the revenue from passenger fares, 45 per cent from property development and five per cent from advertisements and other sources.
