The inevitable has happened. BJP led Central Government finally escaped from the house without taking up the discussion on No Confidence Motion. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan saved the skin of the ruling party bringing out a new rule that NCM cannot be taken when the house is not in order.
BJP has ensured that there is a ruckus in the house with TRS and AIADMK MPs storming the Speaker’s Well for the last few days. All that the speaker has to adjourn the house on the last day as soon as it began. She just read out the adjournment message and adjourned the house sine die.
Interestingly, the Speaker allowed the passage of the Budget and other key business of the government amid the din itself. If this is the case, every ruling party when facing a No Confidence Motion will use the same plan to avoid it. BJP may have set a wrong precedent.
This will mean that the government has sailed through the Budget session comfortably and will have to come with something different for the Winter session later on in the year. It is known to our readers that YSR Congress and TDP have put up these No Confidence Motions for not adhering to the promises made during the bifurcation. The Five MPs of YSR Congress will now resign and sit for a fast unto death at Andhra Bhavan, Delhi.
