Lockdown-May-Not-Be-'Cool'-for-CouplesIndia is in the eleventh day of its three weeks Lockdown. The response has been mixed. Some say the Lockdown is exhausting while some say it gives us the much-needed opportunity to spend some quality time with the family. But then, the second may not be always true.

The isolation, quarantines, and Lockdowns in China proved to be counter-productive on that front as the statistics indicate that the divorce rates have gone up during this period. The problems keep cropping due to various issues like money (too little), screen time (too much), and housework and child care (not evenly split).

There is even a spike in the cases of domestic violence during that period. The trend may be an ominous warning for couples across the globe. We in India are in the very early stages of the Lockdown but if it gets to an extension, who knows we may get there as well.

Only a couple of days ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted about a phase-wise relaxation of the Lockdown after April 14th. But with the graph hitting the roofs in these two days or so, another extension may become imminent in India.
