local-quota-can-jagan-prove-everyone-wrongThe Bill reserving 75% jobs in all industries, factories, partnership and joint ventures to locals in Andhra Pradesh was passed by voice vote in Assembly the other day. The bill has sparked debate across the country in the last few days as National Media termed it as an attempt to divide India in the name of States.

Some Political Experts term this act as a violation of the Indian Constitution. A similar quota is present in the Middle East, locals are hired to meet quotas there due to Skill dearth. They need not work while expats from other countries are called to handle most jobs, which leads to a higher cost of doing business.

The Bill passed in Andhra Pradesh Assembly says Skills will be nurtured by the Business in association with the State Government. This is one more burden to the Business which will discourage them to invest in Andhra Pradesh. All the existing Businesses in Andhra Pradesh will have to comply with this rule in three years time.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the other day, in the Assembly, announced that there is no Skill dearth in the state. Also, the Chief Minister went on to say that with ample job opportunities, people will come forward to give lands for the industries. As of now, no expert is buying the argument of Jagan in this issue. Let us see what happens in this going further.
