Hyderabad outer ring road LED lightsOuter Ring Road of Hyderabad is all set to get LED lighting at a cost of 30 Crore which will be the first of its kind for any Expressway in the state. The stretch between Gachibowli and Shamshabad will be fitted with around 3,000 LED fittings that include around 1,000 for the main carriageway and the rest for service roads.

The 23 Kms stretch will connect Hyderabad city and the International Airport and will see high volume of traffic through out the day and night. It is said that the authorities are pressing for LEDs for proper illumination. These lights will also bring down the Power consumption to at least half as compared to the requirement for high sodium vapour (HSV) lamps.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be funding the loan for this illumination. The authorities are planning to call for bids to take up design, supply and installation of the lights very soon and the work is expected to commence in next couple of months.
