Lathi Charge On Amaravati FarmersTension has flared up during the ongoing Amaravati Farmers’ Padayatra in the Prakasam district. A scuffle broke out between police and farmers at Chadalwada. Police have resorted to a Lathi Charge on the agitating farmers. Nagarjuna, a farmer from Santhanuthalapadu, had his arm broken during the incident.

The farmers were outraged at the manner in which the police were dealing with them. Police, on the other hand, are blocking large numbers of people from participating in the Padayatra. Several TDP leaders have posted pictures and videos of Police doing midnight house arrests so that they could not extend their solidarity to the agitating farmers.

Roads were blocked and check posts were set up everywhere to prevent people participate in the Padayatra. Meanwhile, the farmers’ Padayatra is continuing despite the police restrictions. The farmers are alleging that the Government is severely concerned with the huge response the padayatra is getting and so trying to disrupt the Padyatra despite the court’s order.

Meanwhile, the police claim that the organizers of the Padayatra have infringed the court orders, and they would take it to the court notice and get the permission canceled.
