YSR Congress has concentrated on Chandrababu Naidu‘s Kuppam constituency ever since it came to power. The party leaders are using money and muscle to get the constituency in their fold and has registered a couple of victories in the local elections.
Now, Kuppam municipality is going for election on 15th of this month. Chandrababu Naidu has taken the election seriously and has deployed party seniors to oversee the election. TDP is confident of winning eighteen of the total twenty-five wards in the municipality.
TDP candidates have filed 126 nominations in the twenty-five wards. Rumors are rife in the constituency that the ruling party is ready to even spend 10,000 Rupees for a vote. TDP alleges that YSR Congress may resort to arson and the election officer is favoring them.
A simple municipal election is almost looking like a state election with big leaders in the fray. It has to be seen how Kuppam votes when the results will be out on the 17th of this month. Kuppam is a stronghold of TDP ever since its inception winning nine elections on a trot. Chandrababu Naidu has won seven times since he first contested in 1989.
