KTR Running Through A Rough Patch?Wednesday (September 16th) has turned out to be a forgettable day for Telangana Municipal and IT Minister, K Taraka Ramarao. In fact, the entire Telangana Government. The day started well with the news of Hyderabad ranked number one among the ‘34 Best cities to live and work in India’ as part of a survey by destination discovery website, Holidify.com.

But then, things turned topsyturvy right in the evening. Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad and the surrounding areas submerging most of the city. If not for the cars and bikes floating in the water, most areas looked like Rivers. There is a huge criticism on the Government and on KTR in particular who is the Municipal Minister for the crumbling infrastructure of the city and the poor drainage system.

Also in the day, the Government of India released the latest States’ Startup Ranking 2019. The state scored zero for incubation support, seed funding support, and venture funding support. Under other parameters, Telangana scored 1% on awareness and outreach, 15% on institutional support, 37% in simplifying regulations, and 34% in easing public procurement.

This has come as a shock to the Government and KTR who is the IT Minister who showcased himself making Hyderabad as the Startup Capital of India. There is criticism if that is all show off with no significant work on the ground. The State Government had announced that it has asked the Central Government to re-evaluate its score.

People are not happy with the State Government’s inept handling of the Corona Crisis with underreporting the facts and failure to rein the Private Hospitals Mafia. KTR who used to be very vocal on various issues remained totally silent on the issue. It looks like Things are not going well with KTR these days!
