Killer roads take the lives of 75000 youth last yearIndian roads have become killers with 75000 youth in the age group of 15 and 34 years were killed the last year. Out of this number, 82% of the killed were males. This was revealed by the Road Accident Report for 2014 prepared by the road transport and highways ministry.

This accidents count of youth accounted to 53.8% of the total road accident fatalities that occurred in the country last year. 35.7% of the accident victims belong to the age group of 35-64 years.

This figure is high even at the global level too. According to the latest estimate by the World Health Organization, world road traffic injuries are the number one cause of death among young people aged 15-29 years.
