Khammam district has become a hotbed of Telangana Politics these days. KCR’s BRS is keen on making it big in this district and is organizing its maiden formation day public meeting here on the 18th of this month.
Khammam has a strong influence of Andhra Politics and so, BRS was weak here for many years. But it is slowly gaining ground here after the bifurcation.
To counter BRS, BJP is in talks with Former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. The sulking MP is resigning from BRS later this month and will join BJP. The saffron party is expecting to win 3-4 seats with the influence of Ponguleti.
TDP which announced its re-entry into Telangana politics also had its first meeting in Khammam. YS Sharmila is contesting from Paleru, Reddy bastion in Khammam district in 2023. Her focus is fully on this district for this election.
Left parties have announced contesting with BRS this time to stop the saffron surge in Telangana. They are also expecting 3-4 seats from BRS as a part of the alliance.
The severely battered Congress party is having its sole hope on Madhira in the district courtesy of its Senior leader Bhatti Vikramarka.
