Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been a strong critic of Narendra Modi’s vaccine policy. He has now written a letter to the eleven Chief Ministers to exert pressure on the Central Government to carry out its duty to procure vaccines and ensure free universal vaccination.
The Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also among the eleven. Pinarayi Vijayan posted a copy of the letter on Twitter and tagged all the eleven Chief Ministers. Telangana IT Minister KT Ramarao liked the tweet indicating the likely stance of his government.
“Wrote to 11 CMs in the spirit of Cooperative Federalism. Quite unfortunate that the Centre absolves itself of its duty to procure vaccines, ensure free universal vaccination. United effort to jointly pursue our genuine demand is the need of the hour so that Centre acts immediately (sic),” Pinarayi Vijayan wrote on Twitter.
Now, all eyes are on AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to see if he will join the team of eleven Chief Ministers who positioned themselves against the Central Government. We have already seen Jagan taking the side of Prime Minister Modi when Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren expressed his displeasure on the PM.
