KCR-JailTelangana is all set to have country’s first ever jail museum. Sangareddy’s 216-year-old jail, that was originally a cavalry barrack built by the then Nizam rulers is currently being converted in to a jail museum. The jail authorities are planning display names of prominent persons, who had a taste of jail life in Telangana, along with their history at the museum.

The selection criteria should be the jail birds should have contributed/helped in the development of Telangana society or in the fight for the formation of the separate state. Accordingly Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will also figure in the historical list after he was incarcerated at the Khammam jail for a few days in 2009 during the struggle for separate Telangana.

Satyam Computers founder B Ramalinga Raju, YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and others will not figure in the list. Apart from KCR, Dasaradhi, Kaloji, former chief minister Channa Reddy and names of 50 other personalities would adorn the walls of the museum.
