KCR victory costTelangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’ biggest achievement till date is ensuring there are no power cuts in the power deficit state. However this come with a big price tag. For an instance, Telangana discoms are going to spend a whopping 23,460 Crore Rupees this year to procure power.

Telangana discoms are to purchase 39,292 million units (north) and 15,592 MU (south) in the 2016-17 fiscal year and this would cost them Rs16,906.14 crore and Rs 6,553 crore respectively. That will mean that each Unit of power will cost 6.44 Rupees per unit this year. The same unit just costed 5.64 Rupees last yeear.

The discoms say the increased power is due to rise in network cost and power purchase price. The government is also thinking on the lines of ensuring nine-hour uninterrupted supply to the agriculture sector during the day and 24×7 supply to all other sectors. So is ready with this big expenditure.
