KCR Gifting Main Opposition Status to Friendly MIMIt looks like the Ruling Party in Telangana, Telangana Rashtra Samiti is keen on elevating its Friendly partner, MIM as the Main Opposition Party in the State. After the defection and merger of 12 Congress MLAs into ruling TRS recently, the Congress lost ‘main opposition’ status technically.

With that, MIM MLAs were seated in the chairs of the Main Opposition in the ongoing Budget Session of the Assembly. Congress is reduced to just six MLAs in the house after the merger and according to the logic, MIM become the largest party after TRS with its Seven MLAs.

However, going by the books, a party will get the main Opposition Status in Telangana assembly only if it has 12 MLAs. So, MIM is not eligible in that front. The Main Opposition Party is entitled to get the PAC Chairman Post and KCR may deny even that to Congress.

In the current house, BJP just had a single MLA.
