KCR's First Election Promise from April?Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is gearing up to fulfill the promises made to the people in the recently concluded elections. The first promise is to increase the Asara Pensions for the old and new pensioners. The increased pensions will be disbursed from April the next year.

According to the election promise, the eligibility age is decreased to 57 years from 65 years. With this 20 Lakh more people will be benefitted. The state government has also increased the pension amount for the Old from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,016. For differently abled persons it will be enhanced from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 3016.

The beneficiaries list is being finalized based on the voters’ list. But then, there are concerns over the Use of voter data for governance as it could pave the way for voter profiling, for targetted campaigning by the Ruling Party. Also, a large number of voters in Telangana were unable to cast their vote during the recently concluded polls in the state. using the data can leave out many beneficiaries.
