demonetization-kcr-doing-a-chandrababu-naidu-to-narendra-modiAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is defending the Special Package offered to the state to save the face of the Central government and to keep the alliance of TDP and BJP get going for now. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao seems to be doing the same for Modi by belittling the impact of Demonetization on the state finances.

A Few days ago, Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender put up a brave face in the state assembly and claimed that the demonetization had very little impact on the financial position of the State but then the actual numbers contradict the statements.

Eetela went on to say that the state witnessed an increase in revenues by almost 13 per cent. Officials say that the state would be losing at least 8000 Crore by March-end due to the Demonetization. Commercial Taxes Department alone is going to lose half of the total amount. Except for the sale of petroleum products, everything was impacted.

Sources say that other trades mainly garments, FMCG, gold sales and other commercial activities have plummeted by 50 percent. The impact would have been higher for deficit budget states but in the case of Telangana, only the projected growth is affected which is also a loss to the state. But then KCR being a strong vocal to Demonetization is downplaying the impact.
