In the wake of recent signs of anti-incumbency, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is gearing up for a cabinet reshuffle and have his Team 2023. Reports are that KCR’s daughter Kavitha may be making her entry for the first time into the state cabinet.
Recently re-elected MLC Palla Rajeshwara Reddy and MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah are the other top contenders. KCR recently ousted Etela Rajender from his cabinet. Buzz is that two other ministers CH Malla Reddy and Koppula Eshwar may be shown the door out.
KCR last expanded his cabinet in September 2019. However, political experts say taking Kavitha into the cabinet may backfire on KCR. “There are allegations of nepotism already on KCR. Taking Kavitha may be like giving another issue for the Opposition to criticize,” Political experts say.
“If there is anti-incumbency in the people, these things will definitely have an impact. There are signs of anti-incumbency in urban areas like the GHMC. This may be unnecessary for KCR and it will not help Kavitha’s political future as well,” they add. There are no elections in the state in near future and so, KCR wants to do it now.
