CBN-KCR-IASThe Chief Ministers of Telugu States are now forced to take a common stand with a compromise so as to swap cadre of key IAS officers. Nearly seven months after the state bifurcation, the Centre’s Department of Personnel and Training finalized the allotment of All-India Services officers. However a pandora box is opened with this allotment as 52 IAS officers currently working for Andhra Pradesh have been allotted to Telangana while 31 IAS officers working for Telangana have been allotted to Andhra Pradesh.

DoPT has given the option of swapping the officers on mutual consent and that forces both the Chief Ministers to compromise and come to a common stand. Many officers who were entrusted crucial work of rebuilding the states have been allotted to the exact opposite state and are asked to report to duty immediately as per their new cadre.

For instance, Ajay Jain, secretary for energy with Andhra Pradesh government, has been allotted to Telangana. Jain is the key member working towards achieving 24X7 power supply and also overseeing a project for cyclone-proofing of power lines through underground cabling. Similarly, Somesh Kumar, Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been allotted to Andhra Pradesh.
