Andhra Pradesh Telangana Split Assets 52:48 Ratio, Andhra Pradesh Telangana Divide Assets 52:48 Ratio, Telangana Agrees Assets Division Andhra PradeshA Report by Economic Times suggests that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have finally agreed to amicably divide assets and institutions in the 58:42 ratio on the basis of population. Union Home Ministry will now set up a committee to divide the assets and the employees of the various institutions and offices. Both the states will have equal representation on this committee.

There are about 107 training institutions listed under Schedule 10 of the AP Reorganization Act and 89 government companies and corporations under Schedule 9. Initially, Telangana is not in favour of the division and claimed all the institutions are to be divided as per their geographical location. Supreme Court did not buy this argument in its hearing in March.

The Apex Court categorically stated that the 58:42 ratio for division had to be followed for the division for all these institutions, Telangana government finally relented. Senior IAS officers- K R K Rao and Premchandra Reddy from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are likely to lead the team from their respective states to divide assets at the earliest possible.

However, sources say that the division of Andhra Bhavan in Delhi and higher PSUs will still become the contentious issue as their division will have huge logistical and employee related repercussions. Telangana is arguing that Andhra Bhavan should belong to them citing that it was the property of the Nizam of Hyderabad. But then AP is insisting Andhra Bhavan division as well on population basis which means Telangana will get 8 acres of the entire 20 acres area. The division of assets will bring 58% share to cash-strapped Andhra Pradesh in the total 25000 Crore assets these institutions have today, according to an estimate.
