It is known that Universal Hero Kamal Haasan has floated a new political party earlier the last year named Makkal Needhi Maiam. The actor is being politically active despite shooting for his films. He placed himself away from the ruling government at the Center and has been very vocal against the Government Policies.
Kamal already announced that his party will be contesting in the upcoming General Elections. And now, the Election Commission of India had allotted ‘Battery Torch’ Symbol for his party. “MNM thanks the Election commission for granting us the “Battery Torch” symbol for the forthcoming elections. So appropriate. @maiamofficial will endeavor to be the “Torch-Bearer” for a new era in TN and Indian politics (sic),” Kamal Haasan tweeted.
Kamal already announced the readiness for alliances with like-minded parties. However, that comes with a rider he clarified that he is not going to ally with any party which does not have respect for Tamil culture hinting at BJP. It has to be seen if Kamal’s Party will be successful given that there are two strong regional parties in Tamil Nadu.
