Kaleshwaram Project Breaches A Crucial MilestoneTelangana Government’s Prestigious Irrigation Project, Kaleshwaram had witnessed a crucial development. Irrigation Department officials switched on the first heavy-duty pump at Package 6. The Wet Test is successful as Water from surge pool 110 mts underground is being pumped into Nandimedaram reservoir.

The rest of the pumps will also be tested. Every parameter of the pumps’ functioning, as well as other aspects of the facility, is being monitored thoroughly during the trial run. The surge pool built 110 mts underground is the largest man-made cavern in India. Water comes here via gravity from two underground tunnels of 9 km from Sripada Yellampalli project.

The State Government is keen on giving water from this project in the upcoming rainy season and so the works are accelerated. Telangana Government is spending a mammoth 85000 Crore for this Project which makes it the costliest Lift Irrigation Project in the country.
