Jayalalithaa's Disproportionate Assets Corruption Case to ContinueThe death of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, at the Apollo hospital, has everyone in grief. However, an on-going case for disproportionate assets will continue its proceedings despite her demise. The corruption case, filed after the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy lodged a complaint, was against the late Chief Minister and Sasikala Natarajan, a close aide of Jayalalithaa and a few others.

BV Acharya, a special public prosecutor working on the case said that the Karnataka High Court’s order to acquit Jayalalithaa was meritless and wrong and stated that her death will not affect the Supreme Court’s decision on case.

Acharya speculates that while, after her demise, Jayalalithaa’s name may be removed from the accused list, the others will still be prosecuted.
