Jayalalithaa to jail againKarnataka high court in a stunning verdict slashed all the disproportionate assets cases on Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa. The judge concluded that her undeclared assets were 8.12% more. And since the law allows up to 10% undeclared assets, Jaya was acquitted.

However it is said that there are arithmetical errors in arriving at the undeclared assets which prompted Jayalalithaa’s acquittal. The total of the loan amount is calculated as Rs 24,17,31,274 against the correct total of Rs 10,67,31,274 crore. This mathematical error in adding the individual loan amounts has inflated the income by Rs 13.5 cr.

If the mistakes are corrected by the court, Jayalalithaa would be in excess of 76% of her known sources of income and not 8.12 % as arrived by the court which will then also need reversal of her acquittal. BJP Leader Subrahmanya Swamy is planning to knock the doors of Supreme Court on this issue.
