If the rumors are to be believed, Senior IAS Officer, Yerra Sri Lakshmi who went to jail in the Obulapuram mining case and faced interrogation in Jagan’s quid-pro-quo cases is in contention to get a key posting in Andhra Pradesh Government.
The present Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Sameer Sharma is due for retirement on November 30th and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has already begun exercise for his successor. Buzz is that Srilakshmi and another IAS officer, Neerab Kumar Prasad are likely to be the next Chief Secretary.
According to the tradition and seniority, Neerab Kumar Prasad should be the choice but Jagan is reportedly inclined towards her. Srilakshmi is a Telangana cadre IAS officer. Jagan used his good office with KCR and brought her to Andhra Pradesh. She already got two promotions in just three months after coming to Andhra Pradesh.
If she is appointed as the Chief Secretary, it is the biggest favor for her. Chief Secretary is the highest bureaucratic position in a Government. Since Srilakshmi’s seniority may not be sufficient for the CS post, she may be promoted to a special chief secretary-level officer level before considering for the CS post.
