Why-is-Jagan-So-Mean-About-AmaravatiPress Council of India, the other day, moved a Suo-Moto on the GO 2430 which is intended to curb the Freedom of Press. PCI opined that this GO is to demoralize the journalists in bravely reporting the facts about the government. PCI has directed the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Special Commissioner I&PR) to file reply statement in this matter.

Jagan Government seems to be not happy with this decision of PCI and resorted to revenge by pulling out of the National Press Day event planned in Vijayawada. Two weeks before the event, the Government informed PCI that the Chief Minister is too busy and so can not afford to lend any support for the event.

Usually, the National Press Day event is celebrated in Delhi but Devulapalli Amar, the adviser, National Media and Inter-State Affairs to the government of Andhra Pradesh convinced PCI to have this event in Vijayawada and the Government pulled out in the last minute. Several foreign delegates will be attending the event and this last-minute change will cause a lot of problems.

Some feel this is a kind of Revenge by the Jagan Government against PCI. The National Press Day will now happen in the Vignan Bhavan of the National Capital and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu is invited as the Chief Guest of this event.
