Reddy Community always supported Congress and later shifted to YSR Congress after YSR’s Death. Chandrababu Naidu has been wooing the Community since he came to power in 2014 and Nandhyala By-election will show how far the efforts are successful.
Both the parties have put Reddy Candidates in the fray. TDP will have an edge in that aspect as it has sympathy factor backing Bhuma Brahmanandha Reddy. The Community forms a significant chunk of voters in Nandhyala and so their support is going to be crucial.
If at all TDP wins the election, Jagan should recalculate his support base which will have an adverse effect on majority seats in the Rayalaseema region. YSR Congress was able to win the majority seats in Rayalaseema even in a bad performance of 2014.
The by-election is necessitated due to the sudden demise of Bhuma Nagi Reddy. It is basically a seat of YSR Congress but Bhuma shifted to TDP just before the demise. After the seat is given to Bhuma family, Shilpa Mohan Reddy shifted from TDP to YSRCP to get the ticket.
