Jagan Missed Credit For Modi's Announcement? The other day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation announced free vaccination to everyone above eighteen years of age starting from June 21st. This has been a flipflop from the Center’s earlier strategy of giving vaccines for free only for the 45+ age group.

The center has come under severe criticism from the states and the Supreme Court for this strategy and Modi had to backstep. Meanwhile, on the day of the announcement, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was scheduled to meet the Union Ministers in Delhi.

If the announcement has come after the meeting, YSR Congress social media teams would have gone overdrive claiming credit for the decision. But after failing to get the appointment of Home Minister Amit Shah, Jagan had to cancel the Delhi Trip. Thus missed the chance.

Going forward, all procurement of the vaccines will be done by the Government of India and they will be supplied free for the state. The Union Government has earmarked 35,000 Crore Rupees for the vaccination drive.
