YS Jagan Mohan Reddy tried his level best to counter the government on Kapu Reservations issue. There are allegations that YSR Congress and its leaders are behind the agitation and the violence that erupted after Kapu meeting in Tuni couple of months ago. Jagan would have benefited in that front if Senior Leader Jyothula Nehru is made PAC Chairman.
But Jagan chose Rajindra Reddy, a one time MLA for this post. TDP is alleging that YSR Congress is tilted towards only the Reddy caste and do very little to the other castes. They say it is only for that reason, Jyothula Nehru is ignored despite having all the experience needed to get the post.
Jagan may have committed a political mistake here. Nominating Jyothula Nehru would have sent the right message to Kapu caste and as well as silence the dissent in the party, but he missed a big chance here. Earlier Bhuma Nagi Reddy was given this post which is entitled to the Opposition Party. Bhuma resigned to this post after shifting his loyality to Telugu Desam Party.
