YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and K Chandrasekhara Rao have eagerly extended their support to NDA’s Presidential Candidate, Ram Nath Kovind and in the process have exhibited their eagerness which was awkward even for the party supporters. Jagan extended his unilateral support to NDA even before the candidate is announced.
Jagan meeting Kovind in Hyderabad before Chandrababu meets him in Vijayawada and the Opposition Leader touching his feet unsettled his supporters as well. This gave rise to the allegations Jagan is trying to please the upcoming President to help him in his cases if needed.
It is a different story in the case of KCR. TRS was put in an awkward position when Congress fielded Meira Kumar the then Speaker who ensured that the Telangana Bill is passed. KCR did not even meet her when she came down to Hyderabad and sought his appointment.
KCR even refused to talk to her on phone. While TRS has all rights to make its political choice, KCR should have at least met her and inform her his inability to support her. Also, she is KCR’s former colleague when the latter is a Member of Parliament. Supporters of Jagan and KCR are not happy with the way how they handled the Presidential Elections issue so far.
