Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has become a synonym for giving out G.O. without proper homework and later withdrawing them after the issue lands up in the courts. The Government has now taken back G.O. Number 2 as announced in the High Court.
Earlier, the G.O. was brought transferring some of the powers of the Village Revenue Officers (VROs) to the President and Panchayati Secretaries. This G.O. aims at strengthening the ward and village secretariats system brought in by Jagan. Some people have approached the High Court saying that it is against the Panchayati Raj Act.
The court has made similar observations. Sensing adverse judgment from the court, the government offered to take back the G.O. and release a fresh G.O. giving back the concerned powers to the VROs. The court posted the next hearing of the issue to the 20th of this month.
Despite having huge government machinery at disposal, the Government continues to err. It requires the intervention of the courts finally to correct the mistakes. Wonder why this has become a norm in Jagan’s rule!
