Jagan Government Suspecting Trouble in Nimmagadda's Issue? It is known to our readers that N. Ramesh Kumar whose five-year tenure as State Election Commissioner (SEC) was cut short by an ordinance brought by the government challenged it in the High Court. The High Court took up the petition last Monday and asked the Government to file the counter by Thursday.

But the Government Counsels did not file the counter. The Advocate General sought time till Saturday evening to file the counter since there is no enough staff to prepare the counter. This is a ploy to ensure the next hearing of the case gets adjourned.

In case, the time is extended till Saturday, Nimmagadda’s counsel will not have time to prepare the reply by Monday. Also, the court will not have time to go through the counter and the reply. Legal Experts say that the Government is sensing trouble in this issue and so is trying to drag the case with more adjournments.

It may be noted that Ramesh Kumar, a 1983-batch IAS officer, had taken charge as State Election Commissioner on April 1, 2016, in the wake of bifurcation of AP. The Chief Minister is upset with the fact that he disturbed the moment of the YSR Congress which is on course for a historical win, by postponing the Local elections.
