Jagan Government in a Hurry. But Will It Matter?YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government in Andhra Pradesh seems to be in a hurry to shift its administration to Vishakapatnam. It is known to our readers that Andhra Pradesh High Court had asked to maintain the status quo until the issue is resolved.

However, even before filing the affidavit in the case, the Government has filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court asking for a Stay on the Status-Quo instructed by the High Court. The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Monday.

Legal experts say that the Supreme Court is unlikely to issue the stay. “Normally, the courts would not interfere with the Policy Matters of the Government. But then, this is the case of breach of Agreement between Andhra Pradesh Government and the farmers of Amaravati. So, the onus is on the courts to protect the interests of the farmers,” they say.

“However, the outcome of the case will largely depend on what is written in the Land Pooling Agreement,” they add.
