Jagan Government seems to be on an arresting spree. After arresting former minister Atchannaidu the other day, three more leaders were arrested. Former MLA Chintamaneni was arrested for protest against Atchannaidu’s arrest and will be produced in the court today.
Former Minister JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son, Ashmith Reddy (MLA Candidate of Tadipatri in 2019 elections) were arrested this morning in Travels Buses related case. Interestingly, Atchannaidu’s case and JC Prabhakar Reddy’s case were in the Public Domain for a long time and the Government chose to arrest them now.
As TDP is trying to use the BC card on Atchhanaidu’s arrest, a Reddy Leader was arrested to balance things, TDP alleges. “These arrests will serve multiple purposes. The message will be sent that TDP is corrupt as well and the party leaders will be petrified and will move to YSR Congress. Then, there will be no discussion about the recent adverse judgments of the Government in various issues in the last year,” Political Experts say.
“Every Opposition Leader will think twice before criticizing the Government on any issue. The message is crystal clear, any form of dissent will be crushed ruthlessly. This is more or less the same Operandi of KCR early in his tenure where he cornered Chandrababu and Revanth Reddy in Vote for Note case and since then, there is no opposition at all in Telangana. The only question is that if he has substantial evidence in these cases as in the case of Vote for Note,” they add.
