New Water Resources Minister Ambati Rambabu ever since taking charge is giving long lectures on Polavaram Project and the Diapharaghm wall.
We have seen him not knowing the basics about the project and later correcting by talking to the officials. Even after that, there is no stopping at Rambabu.
The other day, he revealed the actual agenda behind this Diapharaghm wall issue.
“The wall’s damage should be repaired and water from the spillway should be removed. We do not know how much time it will take. So, I can not commit to a date for project completion,” Rambabu said.
He accused Chandrababu’s decision to complete the diaphragm wall before the spillway has resulted in this problem and an additional expenditure of close to 2900 Crore.
During this interaction, an Eenadu journalist asked if that act of Chandrababu had the approval of the Polavaram Project Authority, experts committee, Union Water Resources ministry, etc.
Rambabu tried to dodge the answer and said ‘there may be approval’. When insisted on the answer, he said it is there. Later, he tried to accuse Eenadu in his own style to divert the issue.
Meanwhile, experts say that the negligence and delay in the Polavaram work in the new government is the reason for Diaphragm wall damage.
Keeping that aside, it looks like YSR Congress will use Diaphragm wall damage as the reason for not completing the project when they seek votes in the 2024 elections.
