Jagan Expected 23,000 Crores, Got ZeroUnion Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has tabled the Budget for 2022-23 in the Lok Sabha today. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana pinned high hopes on this budget only to get Zero state-specific allocations to both the states. Andhra Pradesh government has requested to allocate 10,900 Crore Rupees in 2022-23 towards Polavaram Project.

In 2021-22, the Union Government only gave 1,070 Crore to the project. The Government also expected funds towards Revenue Deficit and funds for various projects named in the AP Reorganization act like Bhogapuram Greenfield airport, Kadapa Steel Factory, etc. The Center also stopped funds for seven backward districts for the last five years.

The state government expected around 23,000 Crore in this budget and got zero. Telangana Government has written many letters to the Union Government requesting funds in the name of various schemes. TRS wants to score points over the BJP in case there are no allocations. At the same time, BJP was confident that there will be some allocations because BJP is rising in the state.

In the end, KCR is proven right. The Chief Minister already criticized the budget with the harshest words. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is yet to make a statement.
