Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced a new cabinet the other day. The cabinet had ten old names and fifteen new names.
This is in contrast to Jagan’s earlier statement that 2-3 old names may come back. It is clear that the pressure of the leaders worked and Jagan gave up.
In 2019, Jagan had announced all the candidates at one go in a Pressmeet with the only criteria being winnability. That decisiveness is not seen this time.
If you bring back ten of 25 non-performing ministers, you are bringing back problems as well.
Alla Ramakrishna Reddy was promised a cabinet berth at a public meeting if he defeats Lokesh but Jagan could not keep his word.
Jagan also promised Marri Rajasekhar of a cabinet berth before the 2019 elections denying him Chilakaluripeta but did not keep his word. So much for the claims of Maata Thappanu Madama Thippanu.
The Two MLAs who have defeated someone like Pawan Kalyan were also ignored.
Anna Rambabu from Prakasam district has got the second highest majority in the state only after Jagan but did not find himself in the list.
A senior like Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy could not be accommodated in the name of Caste equations. He was one of the MLAs who resigned for Jagan in 2011 after YSR’s demise.
Even if we consider the social equations are religiously followed, major castes like Kamma, Vaishya, Brahmin, and Kshatriya did not have representation in the cabinet. They were given nominated posts which we know will not serve the purpose. Only Reddys are representing OCs in the cabinet.
Someone like Balineni who was with Jagan since the start was shown door out. Botsa who joined YSRCP after badmouthing Jagan and YSR was given a second chance in Seniors quota.
Loyalists like Samineni Udaya Bhanu and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy were not even considered.
Eight of the twenty six new districts do not have representation.
It looks like Jagan is no longer the confident man he was when he announced all contestants at one go in 2019 or when he fixed his first cabinet without any hassles.
This only reflects the state of affairs in the YSR Congress and the Government.
