Jagan Bumps Into Chandrababu-Like ProblemAndhra Pradesh has voted for Chandrababu Naidu in 2014 believing that he is the only leader who can lead the state without capital. Chandrababu also tried to live up to the expectations with a World-Class capital. But the state finances did not allow that and Chandrababu later struggled under the weight of expectations.

What happened next is history. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who came to power defeating Chandrababu Naidu has run into a similar problem. The recent backlash after the release of the Jobs Calendar is an indication of things to come. The youth, in particular, are very angry with the Government after their set high expectations on jobs due to the tall promises made in the Opposition.

As they say, things are easier said than done. The expectations problem has come back to haunt Jagan like how it happened with Chandrababu Naidu. Jagan has just completed two years in power. With so much financial distress and COVID-19 impact, the effect may fall in the welfare schemes as well sooner or later, many believe.

We have already seen the government started increasing Taxes. Jagan would hope the distress of the Job Calendars is just a one-off thing and is not the starting of the anti-incumbency.
