Jagan Asks Exemption from the Court in the name of State FinancesAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is asked to appear before the court every Friday as he is accused in over 30 cases of disproportionate assets. Jagan who attended the court every Friday while in the Opposition, has been seeking court permission every Friday from the Court Appearances.

He now filed a Petition with the CBI Court to permanently exempt him from the court appearances. “I am the Chief Minister of the State now and coming to the court every Friday will hinder my duties. Moreover, it will cost a bomb for my security arrangements if I come to Hyderabad every Friday which is not good for the cash-strapped state,” Jagan said.

He asked the court to allow his Personal Lawyer instead of him for the court hearings every Friday. Legal experts say that the Chief Minister is likely to get the permission. Jagan earlier filed a similar application during his Padayatra but was refused by the court.

Incidentally, the Petition comes to hearing on the 100th day of Jagan’s rule.
