Six months ago, Telugu Player Ambati Rayudu is sure to play for the World Cup but in the squad announced the other day, the selectors have overlooked his name. Vijay Shankar was preferred over him as he is in good touch and also adds more value to the team with his medium pace bowling and good fielding.
Rayudu was banned from bowling due to his faulty action and is also not good at the fielding. Moreover, he is in a pretty bad form in the last few months which killed his case. Rayudu has also announced retirement from first-class cricket for Hyderabad in order to prepare for the mega ICC event.
Rayudu is 33 years old and this World Cup rejection will mean that his career is more or less over. After the World Cup, the Selectors may start preparing for the T20 World Cup and may look at the young players. He may have to retire after the World Cup or the selectors will start looking beyond him.
