Irrigation Projects in Andhra Pradesh Comes To A Standstill According to a report in Eenadu, the Condition of various Irrigation Projects in Andhra Pradesh has come to a standstill this year. 13,000 Crore is allocated for this purpose in this year’s budget but not even half of that is utilized. To be precise, only 4500 Crore of the allocated funds were spent this year and that too, a majority of it went to the payments for the works done in the previous year.

That means Jagan Government literally spent nothing on Irrigation Projects. Only two months are left in this financial year and so, it is unlikely that at least half of the allocated funds will be used. Allegations are that the Government kept everything aside and is giving priority to the execution of various welfare schemes.

The funds allocated to various other purposes were also diverted to these schemes. According to an estimate by the Government, a whopping 25,698 Crores are needed for the completion of the existing projects. This does not include the Polavaram Project.

The State Government has to spend the money on Polavaram Project and later, the Central Government will be reimbursed the amount. It is already known to our readers that the Central Government is taking sweet time to do that and almost 5000 Crore of the same are pending so far.
