Telugu Desam Party is hosting its annual Mahanadu for the first time in Ongole.
This is the first Mahanadu of TDP after the 2019 drubbing and with elections just two years to go and with signs of anti-incumbency, there is a josh in cadre over this Mahanadu.
There is a good reason for choosing the Prakasam district for hosting this all-important Mahanadu.
Even in the massive anti-government wave, TDP won three seats in the district in 2019.
The party has improved further. According to an internal survey, in the newly carved Ongole district, TDP is in a position of winning six seats.
YSR Congress has a chance only in one seat and there is a tight in another seat (Yerragondapalem).
TDP is retaining its Kondepi and is grabbing Ongole, Santhanuthalapadu, Kanigiri, Darsi, and Markapuram – all of them are of YSRCP in 2019.
TDP wants to consolidate the party’s position and so, has chosen Ongole as the venue for Mahanadu.
