Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu knocked the door of the High Court seeking the direction to the High Court to restore the full security cover that was given to him as the Opposition Leader in 2014. After reducing the security of Chandrababu to 2+2 as for every MLA, the government reduced the security for Nara Lokesh and removed totally for Chandrababu family members.
Chandrababu Naidu is on the hit list of the Naxals. He survived a Landmine attack in 2003. Since then, he is being provided with Z Plus Category Security. Chandrababu’s lawyer told the court that the former Chief Minister is also under the threat from the Red Sanders Smugglers.
However, the advocate general informed the court that Chandrababu Naidu as a former Chief Minister is entitled only for 58 Security Personnel but the state government is currently providing 74 of them. The court asked the government to submit a sworn affidavit about Chandrababu Naidu’s security and adjourned the case to next Tuesday.
Legal experts say that Chandrababu’s Security is equivalent to that usually provided to a former Chief Minister but is less when we consider the threat he has. The Government is not mentioning that to the court.
