In a rather disturbing turn of events, a son killed his father in an inebriated state at Southgate, North London. The accused is Deekan Paul Singh Vig, 54. In October 2021, the police were called following a disturbance in the house that Vig was sharing with his parents for about 40 years.
However, despite attempts at providing emergency care, Vig’s father Arjat Singh Vig, 86, was pronounced dead. The cause of death was revealed following a post-mortem that it was caused by blunt force injuries to the head. The police stated how Arjat’s body was found with his “head caved in”.
Vig was living with Arjat Singh who retired as an accountant and his zoologist mother Damanjit Vig, 85. The family moved from Uganda to the UK when Idi Amin instructed south Asians to leave Uganda.
Vig was found naked surrounded by bottles and he broke his father’s head with a champagne bottle. At the time of his arrest, he was found surrounded by about 100 champagne bottles, ten whiskey bottles from Amazon, and a Talisker Scotch bottle. Though Vig initially denied the act, he later confessed that he hit his father without any intention of doing so.
Vig will be sentenced to 20 years in prison and this is a huge cause of concern for his family as one member is dead and the other will spend most of his life in prison now.
